"Home is where the heART is!" 2024
Meet Our Featured Artists
I am Tony Kasmar. I am a professional commercial illustrator (officially a graphic artist) for the Market District in Solon, Ohio. I have a BFA in Drawing from Bowling Green State University and have been a practicing artist for almost 20 years.
My work is focused solely around food and the way we share it with those we love. I use a variety of media to create handmade signs that catch the eye, inspire and educate the guests that shop at the Market District. I love to employ a variety of puns, slogans, and references to popular culture to help create a unique visual experience for the viewer. The tone of my work can swing from the whimsical to informative depending on the subject of the sign and that variety is what makes the work that much more enjoyable.
Tony will be located on the Riverfront Plaza Creating art with our community
April 25th from 5-8pm.

Allyse was born in Akron, has a BA in Communications from Denison University, and an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western University. She is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10KSB Program and serves on the board of Torchbearers, the Akron Zoo’s Professionals Advocating for Wildlife (PAW), and the Akron Marathon. |
Mac and Allyse Love founded Art x Love in 2015 and have produced more than 300 murals and placemaking initiatives across Northeast Ohio in collaboration with more than 200 local artists and more than 10,000 residents. Notable Art x Love projects include the Akron-wide @PLAY project, Akron on Deck playing card set, Akron Stories project, Dawn Revisited collaboration with Rita Dove and Akron Art Bomb Brigade, Dragonfly Fountain mural at the Akron Zoo, and nationwide Parks Unlimited activity books for the Trust for Public Land.
Mac and Allyse are completing a year-long residency with the Cuyahoga Falls City School Districts high school and middle schools with the goal of creating a 7ft X 28ft mural for the common space in the new 6-12 building. This mural design concept is based on “Home is Where the heART is.” This initiative has three stages; research, creation and design. This project has been a massive undertaking coordinating five art educators and student artists from the three different schools. In the Research Phase, we collected 2,500 physical surveys from students, staff and the community. This gave student artists a starting point, as they considered perspectives about the meaning of home to people in our community from different age groups, genders and with diverse backgrounds. This moved us into the Create Phase where students from the elementary schools, middle schools and high school used this community research to inform and inspire over 400 2D and 3D art pieces. These pieces were then curated by the Public Art & Design team to develop concepts for the mural. Step 3 is the Design Phase. This is currently underway. Graphic design classes are refining artworks in a digital format and preparing them for the final image.
